Biography

Dr. Zihao (John) Li completed his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2019 from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where he developed innovative optical technologies for imaging through complex biological tissue. He earned his Ph.D. in Bioengineering in 2023 from the University of Pennsylvania, where he developed WormPicker, the first AI-driven robotic system for automated genetic manipulation and analysis of the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans. In 2024, Dr. Li started postdoctoral training in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at The Ohio State University, where he developed the next-generation robotic platform, WormPicker 2.0, designed to accelerate genetic studies with unprecedented speed and precision. In 2026, Dr. Li joined the Department of Biology at Johns Hopkins University as a Postdoctoral Scholar. His current research focuses on developing novel AI vision systems for high-throughput genetic and drug screening assays.
